OVERVIEW
I was tasked with developing a one of poster for an event revolving around the Ukrainian Easter Egg, known as the Psyanky Egg. It was meant to be a small event that discusses the history and the origins of the decoration. It is meant to shown the cultural significance of what makes it an important part of their culture. The poster serves as a preview, setting the stage for an event that promises to showcase the beauty, history, and creativity embedded in the age-old tradition of Easter egg decoration. This event was meant to showcase the rich history behind the tradition and provide information on the topic, with one of the topics of discussion here being the variety of symbols, such as flowers representing the idea of wisdom, beauty and elegance.
DESIGN CHOICES
The design philosophy for this project revolves around the ideas of simplicity, elegance, and a timeless aesthetic. The choice of beige as the primary color serves as a neutral canvas, providing a warm and inviting backdrop that doesn't overpower the intricate details of the Pysanky eggs. Beige symbolizes a sense of calmness and sophistication, creating a harmonious atmosphere that allows the vibrant colors of the eggs to shine, as they are the focal point of the poster, and of the event.
As far as the typography to round out the design, Montserrat Bold for the title exudes modernity and boldness, capturing attention and contributing to a strong presence. It complements the beige backdrop, adding a touch of contemporary flair. For the body text, Crimson Text was chosen for its classic and legible qualities. This serif font evokes a sense of tradition and timelessness, reinforcing the cultural significance of the Easter egg celebration and to the importance of this decorating tradition.
